Doc, just euthanize me

Johnny Bagels, Hater J, and I have been arguing about the Celtic's recent moves.

My belief is that Ainge may not have screwed everything up. First off, Perkins is clearly over-rated. He was a good fit for the Celtics (when he was healthy) because of his defense. In terms of offense and rebounding, he didn't produce much at all. His totals of 6 and 6 per game are what a lot of scrubs around the league are able to average. Kris Humphries of the Nets, whose only achievement in life has been yamming Kim Kardasian, has put up better numbers this season.

Also, Perkins is coming off multiple serious injuries and was looking for a big contract extension. He missed the playoffs two years ago and the Celtics lost. Then last year he got injured in the finals and the Lakers ended up beating them. I've heard the stat about the Celtics never having lost a playoff series with Perkins and the Big 4, but does that stat apply when you have to roll him out in a wheelchair? Give me a break. Perkins in a year or two = what Shaq currently is.

The Celtics added Jeff Green - a young, athletic player who fills the Celtic's void left by James Posey. Kristic is kind of a wussy, Euro player, but at least he can score a little. Now there is talk of adding Troy Murphy and Brewer. Troy Murphy has averaged a double-double most of his career, and he's a big Irish guy (which Boston fans love). Brewer is another young, athletic guy who can contribute off the bench.

I'm not saying the Celtic's pick-ups have been great, but all-in-all they may be better off as a team. They got a bit younger and more talented while keeping the Big 4 in tact.

  3. I don't hate the Celtics's moves. Perk wanted a big contract they weren't going to give him, he has questionable health, for a young dude in Green.

However, you fail to acknowledge you said Shaq and two ugly white dudes are serviceable. That front line is worth at least two monster, "I made you look like you should retire" dunks per game.

And who thinks the Celtics are contending for a title in two years? They're built to win now and Perk was the cliche "Warrior" who did all the "dirty work" and "brought his lunch pail to work everyday". Shaq brings his lunch pail, thats why he's 85 pounds overweight. Like the Ultimate Warrior, Kristic hits people over the head with chairs. Not exactly the warrior and lunch pail guys that the Celts need for a ring.
