KNICKS FANS ARE IDIOTS
All of you Knicks fans (especially the bandwagon jumpers who haven't seen a game in 15 years) and the media who are critical of this trade: You're stupid. You all sound like the guy who broke up with his girlfriend because the relationship wasn't going anywhere and then whine about "Maybe I was wrong, she wasn't that bad". All I heard for the last 2 years was "the Knicks need to make a move, they're going to be mediocre unless they make a big trade"...then once they get a top 10 (maybe 5) player, you all bitch and moan that the Knicks gave up too much. Gallinari and Chandler were not going to lead us to a championship. Mozgov looked lost out there for 90% of the season, but somehow the Knicks got fleeced. Take it from someone who has watched the Knicks closely for the past 20 years. THIS IS A GOOD MOVE. That is all.

Gotta agree, Chandler, Gallo, and Mozgov were NOT going to lead us to a championship! While I liked Felton, his numbers have steadily decreased each month since December. A 2014 draft pick? Maybe in the top 20, but with Melo and Stoudy and Billups, I think the Knicks will be in the top 4 of the east next year and the year after. so, we were worried about trading a kinda-potential-all-star (gallo) and the 2nd coming of michael doleac for an already established SUPERSTAR in his Prime?!? Um, didn't we learn that lesson a few years back? Hello 2007 Chicago bulls, anyone?
ReplyDeleteMy argument isn't based on those player's long-term potential but more on their value as trade assets. Knicks could have included less in the trade or gotten more with what they finally decided on. Still, it is an exciting moment, and if the Knicks can add a piece or two they will be championship caliber.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if their value is all that much. Either way, they got the deal done and they still have room to make some moves. As is, they're a much improved team. We'll see what happens.
ReplyDeleteThis was probably a good deal for the Knicks if they can sign a big man in the offseason...I think it will also depend on what Gallo and Chandler become in the next couple years...as Da Spring mentioned, the Bulls didn't pull the trigger on a deal in 2007 because they thought Deng and Ben Gordon were a potent 1-2 punch, but those two had hit their ceiling in 2007.
ReplyDeleteAnd a pretty good article about Dolan:

The players the Knicks traded are "B" players at best no matter how you average out the deal, they never equal the A+ player the Knicks got in the deal
ReplyDeleteYes, but several young, talented, "B players" plus a ton of money was sent to Denver. They could have got an "A+" player for a lot less.
ReplyDelete3 million dollars is a ton of money in Mexico, not the NBA
