Phat Albert - the 300 million dollar man?

Albert Pujols' career stats: 10 seasons, .331 average, 1230 rbi's, 408 hr's, 1900 hits, 1186 runs. 2 Gold Gloves. Has led the league in: doubles, runs, hr's, rbi's, average, on-base, slugging, etc. 1 World Series ring. Good post-season stats.

He has 3 MVP's. But consider this: Pujols came in second in MVP voting four times (two of them were when Bonds won). One year he came in third (when Bonds and Beltre were ahead of him). So, if you discredit the steroid freaks, Pujols should have 6 MVP's in 10 years of baseball.

By my estimation (and it's really just a guess), Pujols will retire with statistics that make him one of the top 3 or 4 players of all-time.

One question needs to be raised: how do we know Pujols wasn't cheating? Dominican players have been connected with steroids throughout the steroid era. Also, Pujols is a huge-ass dude who never seems to get hurt. The least amount of games hes played in one season is 143, with somewhere around 150+ being his average.

My guess is that Pujols has been juicing it for years. No one that big stays healthy for 10+ years playing at the level he has. Either he is an extreme anamoly or he is a stupid cheater like the rest of our heros.

His body will begin to give out on him. He deserves a huge contract, but not quite 300 million.

Joba Chamberlain arrives at Yankees spring training noticeably overweight, annoyed by questions

Joba Chamberlain arrives at Yankees spring training noticeably overweight, annoyed by questions

You may remember our previous post here CC Capn Crunch Diet Plan where we discussed how much cereal CC must have been eating before his magical weight loss over the winter. Well now we find out that he may have just been giving all his breakfast to Joba Chamberlin over the off-season. Recent reports from spring training indicate simply that he is "heavier", although some people are debating if this is fat or muscle.

My theory is that Joba spent a lot of time drinking over the off-season. A group of us actually ran into him at this bar NYU Bar #1 sitting at the bar putting back some Buds. He was actually pretty nice about the whole encounter, and given the type of bar he was at I don't think he has been hanging out at the Oak Room with A-Rod. However, those beers do add up.

Are you concerned about Joba and his extra weight?

Top 20 Beef Songs

20. "No Rest for the Wicked"- Cypress Hill dissing Ice Cube (1995)
Cypress Hill's Temples of Boom popped up on my ipod today and I heard the Ice Cube diss record "No Rest for the Wicked" for the first time in a while. This has all the makings of a great beef record:

- A tough, scary beat
- Shit talking before, during and after the song as well as threats of violence
- Calling the other rapper by his actual first name (it helps when it's O'Shea)
- Questioning the other rapper's manhood and integrity
- reworking the other rapper's own lyrics to make fun of them
- A real life incident that sparked the beef

In this case, B-Real supposedly let his friend Cube hear "Throw your Sets in the Air", and lo and behold O'Shea came out with basically the same song on the Friday soundtrack. Needless to say, they weren't happy about it. Anyway, these guys are friends again now, and Ice Cube makes stupid kiddy movies and unfunny TBS sitcoms, but this song still belongs in the Bagel Beef archives.

Best line: "I got Cube melting in the tray, pulling up his card and f#@%ing up his good day"

Cavs Beat The Lakers

Speaking during the Knicks postgame show of the historically awful Cavs beating the Lakers tonight, MSG's Al Trautwig said "Imagine the biggest possible upset in the NBA that you could think of. It happened tonight!" I don't think so. The way the Lakers up and down season has been going this was very predictable. Win the first 4 games of their annual Grammy road trip, including their biggest win of the season in Boston and then a spanking of the Knicks at the Garden in the second half of a back to back only to lose their last 3 games in ugly fashion. This was of course the ugliest, letting a nobody like Ramon Sessions run all over them while Bottle's man Mo sat on the bench. They coasted through the season last year only to turn it on and win the championship. Maybe they do it again this year. We'll see if terrible losses like this are signs of a great team just losing focus or a team that was great showing their age.

Heat vs. Raptors preview

Tonight, Rupaul returns to Toronto for the first time. It probably won't be the same level of hate that LeBron felt when he went back to Cleveland for the first time (and Lord knows there isn't anywhere near the hype behind this game) but I think those Canadians are going to show they're not always that nice.

This pass last night was sick.

Knicks vs. Hawks preview (this time it's personal)

The rematch between these two teams who duked it out a couple weeks ago. Being dubbed "The Rumble in Atlanta" by nobody, that ho-hum contest ended with Shawne and Marvin fighting it out over who is the bigger bum to have the Williams name.

Amare's thrown some fuel on the fire recently, smack talking Al Horford all over the place. Said Stoudemire, "He don't want to see me". It's on now. You don't talk to a Dominican like that.

Below, is my favorite memory between these two franchises.

Perp Shoe of the week redux

Perp shoe double whammy this week! The Nike Air Diamond Turf Max (named for Primetime's dual sports career) were probably the craziest looking sneakers to ever come out at that point, and they have only a few challengers since. These were available in black and white as well as Cowboys colors and Red. Perfect to high step your way past the po-pos.

Perp shoes of the week; All Star edition

In honor of the upcoming NBA All-star weekend this week's perp shoes are the Reebok Pumps. Probably the best example of dunk contest cross-promotion ever. Dee Brown had young perps everywhere pumping their sneakers so they could throw one down just like the little Celtics point guard. Of course all the pump did was tighten the shoe around your ankles a little but it still looked cool.

Please bring back the Jacksons

Is it wrong to hate on little kids? Regardless, it has to be said. Why do Will Smith's kids get to be famous, make movies and albums, appear on the Grammy's? Will Smith has made probably 7 of the 10 worst movies and 2 of the 3 worst albums of all-time. He's currently working on Men In Black 3. Jesus, if I ever want to kill myself I'll try to sit through it. Michael Jackson had more talent than long-time professional entertainers when he was 6 years old... these kids shouldn't even be famous. What happened to social Darwinism? Apparently it doesn't apply when you're famous and have a lot of money.

Remember when everyone loved this guy?

Supposedly he got beat up by white supremacists after bragging about sleeping with tons of white women. Normally PTU will not support neo-nazi's, but OJ really had this coming to him. Face it: despite his once loveable image, OJ is a piece of crap. Not only has he killed people, but he was stupid enough to get in trouble stealing sports memorabilia. Why do you need sports memorabilia when you're a former professional athlete? Just wear one of your old jerseys, #@#hole.

Additional SI Submissions

Bagels, although your selections are solid and give me no reason to say, "awful decision," I have two additional submissions worthy of this discussion. Both pictures make two very good arguments for being in the top 5.
